Job Summary:Â
Responsible for overall supervision, production, and performance of assigned team consisting of Occupational Health Nurses (OHN) who provide telephonic nursing support activities and services for the Incident Intervention division.  Â
 Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Â
1. Supervisory: Responsible for overall production and performance of team activities including the daily supervision of assigned staff. Duties include but are not limited to:Â Â

Assign follow-up calls and new intakes.Â

Assist with overflow initial assessment calls according to business needs. Â

Participate in hiring and selection of new staff. Â

Assist II Department Trainer in training new staff.Â
-
Participate in creating staff meeting material based on client specific needs.Â
-
Assist with quality checks of cases as assigned by department leadership.Â
-
Ensure team members are meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIâs) as identified and defined by leadership team.Â

Participate in management meetings providing input on process improvement. Â
-
Lead and participate in ad hoc team(s) for special projects including creating II specific policies or procedures.Â

Become an expert on assigned clients to include assisting cases that require escalation.Â

Oversee, review, and manage clinical caseload for Occupational Health Nurses in cooperation with the management team.Â

Provide performance feedback and coaching regularly to each team member. Write and administer performance reviews for skill improvement with feedback from the management team. Â

Address disciplinary and/or performance problems according to company policy. Prepare warnings and communicate effectively with employees on warnings and make effective/appropriate decisions relative to corrective action. Â

Identify appropriate training and other resources for II staff to perform their job duties with efficiency. Â

Must be able to work rotating weekends âon callâ. Â

Responsible for all management of WorkCareâs Incident Intervention division when department leadership is not available. Â

Able to assist with client escalations in a calm and effective manner. Â

Performs additional duties and assumes additional responsibilities as identified by department leadership for the efficient operation of WorkCare.Â
2. Occupational Health Nurse: Provides initial injury intake, follow up and case closures in accordance with Policy and Procedures.Â

Provides initial contact with injured worker, employer, provider and other appropriate stakeholders (3-point contact).Â

Obtains history of present injury and Triages to most appropriate level of care. (RN only)Â
-
Evaluates injury against current job functions, determines mechanism of injury, and takes related medical history.Â
-
Assesses and collects data regarding risk factors for delayed recovery and determines the impact on care, recovery and return to work. Generates creative solutions to minimize or eliminate obstacles which prevent, or delay return to work. Â

Provides guidance regarding self-care or first aid per protocol. Â
-
Assures return-to-work clearances are appropriate for all occupational and non-occupational illnesses/injuries. Â

Interacts with on-site medical personnel, client Human Resources, Health and Safety staff, local medical providers and other designated personnel for proper initiation and follow-up of possible work-related injuries and illnessesÂ
3. Employee/Employer RelationsÂ

Discloses information regarding the role of incident intervention and the rationale for incident intervention services.Â

Serves as an advocate for the injured/ill worker during the recovery process, provides support, information, and education to improve employeesâ knowledge about their health and self-care, and enhances their understanding of the health care treatment plan and process with the goal of safe return to work.Â

Counselâs employees on reduction of risks associated with occupational and environmental hazards. Â

Assist Management Team with educating clients on appropriate use of II services.Â
4.  Provider Contact/RelationsÂ
-
Requests medical records as needed.Â
-
Directs care to preferred providers and negotiates as necessary. Â
-
Ensures appropriate use of medical facilities, early and appropriate referrals, and quality of care.Â
-
Identifies excessive, ineffective or inefficient delivery of health care services and redirects care as needed.Â
-
Perform additional duties and assume additional responsibilities as identified by manager for the efficient operation of WorkCareÂ
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Diploma/associateâs degree in nursing required.
- Preferred Bachelor of Science in Nursing and/or a minimum 3 yearsâ experience as an occupational health nurse or case manager in health care setting.
- Must hold valid RN license and obtain licensure in states identified by Department Leadership.
- Preferred Certified in Occupational Health and/or Case Management.
- Membership with AAOHN and or CMSA with certification as COHN or CCM preferred.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.

Computer Skills
- Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.

Physical Demands
- Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
- Some bending and stretching could be required.
- Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
- Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard.
- Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

- Work Environment must be free from background noise and distraction.
